Inhuman-sized Printer

UPDATE: More Inhumanity (I can't help myself):

My new scanner/printer arrived yesterday.
The Epsom WF (for "workforce," not W(T)F??) 7610. Under $200, it has a scanner-bed that's 12" x 17" (tho' it scans a little under that), and can print up to 13" x 19". THose are two 8.5" x 11" sheets on there--scanned simultaneously. I'm impressed.

It was a breeze to set-up. And now I'm not only printing and scanning large-format style--I'm doing it wireless-ly. Wow, the future.

I celebrated with a Kirby Inhumans study. They never get old.

Guess your all set now Mr. BIG Time. Nice looking stuff by the way (as usual. LOL)

You also got down that Kirbyesque look on Maximus the Mad.

Great drawing. So you can now print out blue pencils onto bristol board and do that brush pen thing you do so well?

And then scan those inked pages full size. You are ready. You're ripe and ready.

Little tip from my dropping blue in photoshop experiments.

Counter intuitive- in channels, turn off every channel but blue. You will have just the black art. No blue to see. Then use that to make your line art on clear alpha level trick

You're right. Kirby study never gets old.

Thanks, dudes!

Elz, interesting trick to drop the blues...makes sense--as much as any of that "invert-channel--select--fill" process makes sense.

I'll try it!

At first I was worried that I hadn't given the best face in the lot his character attribution...

...but OF COURSE Jimmy got it!!

Well done, JMG!

I remember that first story with Black Bolt. So many Kirby/Lee classic moments back then. It just made your teenage brain go "Whoa!"

First Silver Surfer Story
First Thor Story with "Him"
First Fight Between Thor and Hercules
First Fight Between Thor and Hulk

Will anything ever grab me quite the same way again?

And yeah Marty, you sure can do Kirby, especially that fist.

Are you going to be printing your own posters with that printer?

Davis Chino said...

Rick, no, I'm not planning to print posters...but then, I'm open to the idea!

Tom, it's easy to copy Kirby--if you're willing to copy Kirby (I just put his page in front of me and "trace")!

I agree--not a lot of excitement on the superhero front for me, either. You pick up those early Marvel-age books and you really get a sense of a new frontier being explored by the creators...lots of urgency, lots of improvisation and mash-up. Love it!

Marty, I don't bother with the invert channel anymore. I drag the positive, cleanest channel to the dotted circle and then invert the selection. Ctrl -i . Then fill. Same result. And you aren't leaving behind some channel extra overhead.

Great tip, Elz--muchas gracias!!

That new Inhumans sketch is great. You should do a Black Bolt story.
