Cork 20

As always, my pals at TAG get first Cork dibs. Here ya go.

(Great. Was just informed of another misspelling. The corrected version is above.)

Walt Stanchfield-Drawn to Life

Title is a link to a vid announcing the books.

I'll be buying them.

Couple of guys here at work are background students in the figure drawing classes.

I may buy Alchemy of Animation as well. Stimulate the economy

In Search Of Steve Ditko

Just bought this anthology of really old Steve Ditko, black and white work. Purporting to be from a period where he found his unique weirdness and started to produce his very unique look. The title is a link to a BBC special that Jim Gorham tracked down. in search of Steve Ditko.

Alan Moore talks about Mr A. Good laugh with that.

Happy Prez Bdays

Here's a "Bus Drawing"... something I've sketched while riding the bus to and from work. I got one of those great moleskin books and it's already half full, so I've got loads of jittery drawings to share.

I have to say that I'm much more aware of the driving skill of various bus drivers now that my line quality is dependent on a smooth ride.

Looking For Squoob

Still looking for the Squoob rules.

No Squoob. Can not find it. I'm not done but Lord the trip down bad art memory lane. Here's a Blue Sky era ditty. My floundering at Vector Man character design concurrent with Rick doing the idea that was used.

TAG was eating Mexican food at a restaurant across from the much smaller convention center. We started Simpson themed doodles and eventually got the piece signed by the voice of Homer.

Top image is my first go at Zonzen, the bounty hunter of Zone Z. It's funny how stupid that used to sound. Now it sounds like a Movie that might come out next week. I think the country has gotten significantly dumber since 95. Still no Squoob

Rockstar SD Open House for BottleRocket'ers

Rockstar San Diego is having an open house for all Bottlerocket people who'd care to attend, so spread the word to anyone you know who might want to investigate. This Thursday from 2pm - 4pm ...

Cork 18

Huzzahs go out to Tom Carroll for the edit assist on this Cork. I fixed it per his suggestion and now it feels funnier... well, if not funnier in your mind, then hopefully better paced!

Go See It In 3D

Coraline. A great horror story. I'm not sure why they let so many kids in.

www.slushpilecomics.com

Here's a link to the new webcomics site where Cork will be making its "debut." It's called Slushpile Comics and hopefully the full site will be up and running within the month! You'll see a 'coming soon' page and at least two of the other artist's offerings slated to appear. Keep an eye on it and let others know it's coming. It will also make a great Valentine's Day gift for your respective honeys! What better way to say I love you than with a link to a colorfully static webpage?

Random Illustration Idea Generator

Ellis, as I recall, you and your work cohorts have been using some sort of random illustration idea generator to for some drawing exercises you've done together... is that something you folks found on the web and if so, where can I find it?

Evolution of a Sketch...

I started this sketch as a two handed scribble, a pencil in each hand both going at once to lay down some surface, mostly sweeping curves, etc. Then I began working into it with the thought that I wanted to do something with long teeth like the angler fish in Finding Nemo ... And this is the result. The first sketch is from the beginning of the week and the second shows progress since then. I'm trying to work on various kinds of surfaces, slick and liquid, glossy, and dry, as well as giving a sense of form with the detail ...

One last one for a bit ...

Loving my current duties on the game, which has been officially announced, as of today. It's called Red Dead Redemption and if you want to read more about it and see some pics, go here ...

BTW: If you want to listen to the ecclectic mix of music I have assembled on Last.fm, go to this link ... this link right here, in fact.

Late night at work doodle ...

This fellow isn't finished, but I'm having fun with the volume. This time I think I'm channeling Jay Leno crossed with Ted Kennedy ... eek!

Wish Us Luck!

Tonight is the first meeting of TAG North! Mike C. has been kind enough to host the event at his office and the word has gone out far and wide. I think we will get a decent turnout... I'm bringing extra chairs just in case. I will let you know how it goes!
