Some Guys Are The Count...

...some guys are Nosferatu.
Happy Halloween!

I broke my Ymir

Jim gave this to me about 5 years ago. Made the trip all the way back to OKC. Where I just broke it by swatting it off the shelf. Won't be selling that on Ebay.

Sketchbook musings

Figure I'd post a few

Wrasslin'

A big ol' ink thingy I've been working on. I am getting better at backgrounds and perspective...but still not good.
[No cross-posting to Tumblr or Facebook, please--it's work-for-hire. I just wanted to share it with my T.A.G. brethren. And sistren (hi, Beata!)]

UPDATE: Hope this isn't an overindulgence, but here's the original pencil and the ensuing line drawing of the characters that I printed out and used to ink the final (you can see how I spread all the figures out from the initial blue-line sketch):

Monsters and Dames update

Here's an update on my Monsters and Dames book entry.  I've added stuff all the way around the image so I could finish out the skiff and give the image a bit more breathing room.  Still, I wanted it to be full of city detail.

Did I Say Ellis is just a Chiselled Popeye...?

I should've added, "With extra hair."

Tuesday plus Inktober

Here for about 6 of the remaining 9 inktobers.

Same Bat time. Same Bat channel.
Inktober 22
Uranus has killer worms!
Inktober 23
Wendigo in scale.
Inktober 24 cold front
Inktober 25- 6 left-This one is index card size.
I would change the cartoon gloved hand. The pinky shape conflicts with the thumb shape.
Herbie loses a bet. Inktober 26
I owe something for Inktober 27

World War Z

Blair is away to Virginia for the week, so I am free to watch whatever I want on TV.

So I rented World War Z.

Not that I expected a great movie, but it sounded interesting for that sort of thing. From what I'd read in reviews, B. Pitt plays an infectious disease specialist, and this sounded interesting to me. Also, word was that the film was not "gross," but more "intellectual."

I thought it was pretty good for that sort of thing--certainly very tense. But they did that typical thing where the entire world population is being destroyed and the main character doesn't want to help out 'cuz, y'know...kids.

I justified the rental (Apple TV!) by sketching as I watched:

p.s. Even as mild as the film was, I had a hard time sleeping. 'Cuz, y'know...zombies!

#inktober continues

Yesterday's #inktober entry.

Haven't posted for a while...

...so, let's fix that.

My Planetside 2 helmet is now for sale via SOE's Player Studio.

And here's a gruesome, happy tentacled fellow.

Famous Monsters Surfing

This goes to my re-blog of a great post with links to archives of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazines. Beautiful surfing material. Plus a lot of stuff I haven't checked out yet. It's hard for me to stop looking at the Famous Monsters.
Some of the amateur fan make ups that are profiled are more gruesome than anything done on film to date.

Inktober 16...and Beyond!

I'll use this thread to do the next week of Inktober.
Slight edits make a big diff.
As Marty suggested. Done in about a minute with a mouse.
Cherubs for the An Acrostic Poem. Inktober 17
Inktober 18- Almost 2 weeks left. Quite a discipline.
19
Go to Tumblr to see the quick lay in pencils. It went south from the lay in which was strong, angular, good big shapes.
Inktober 21. I'll start a new thread for Inktober 22 since it's Tuesday as well.

300 Bucks

Almost 2 weeks salary for me anymore. Not likely.

Children's Art Post?

Does anyone remember posting at one time, a website where adult artists did polished renditions of children's drawings?  If you know what I'm talking about, I'd like to see that website again.

"Cosplay" was mentioned...?

Had to post this 'cuz I think El would make a most impressive Hellboy. From this blog like, 10 years ago, and also the Brushpen Breakfast book.
p.s. Scott Benefiel and I were talking about drawing Ellis. I said my formula is draw a chiseled Popeye.

Help Me Decide What To Ask For For Christmas

I've got my Christmas Wish List narrowed down to three things, all from the Hammacher Schlemmer catalogue, and I can't decide which one to ask for from Patty.  The Robbie the Robot is the least expensive, but it's mostly made for display and would take up a lot of room in the house.  The Batmobile seems really appropriate for me, and I would probably get the most use out of it, but it costs the most.  The Killer Whale Submarine might be the best choice because it's the coolest of all, and at $90,000 is priced relatively modestly. Whatever I choose, if any of you TAGsters have been wondering what to buy me, you can chip in for one of the other remaining two.

Inktober 9-10-11-12-13-14-15(I stop at 15)

Not so hot drawing of Vaughn Bode's Cobalt 60 character.

I'm calling it Intober 10 right now. But I may do another werelion. Got one thumbnailed about as well as this art.
Another one. This time with arrows
Watched Karloff's THE MUMMY for a bit last night.
Inktober 13. Posted at midnight.
Colored Inktober12. I'll post more than a fragment if it comes out alright.
Walking Dead influenced the grisly direction of this one. Direct Ink to paper is always a kick if it works at all.
One more . Then I'll start a fresh thread. Do a week on that thread.
Kinda Rushed this before work. God I hate work.
