Wendling and Carradine

The big grab bag doodle was the result of doodling while watching Alfred Hitchcock, PRIDE (mixed martial art event) , LOST HIGHWAY and News and other stuff. There are attempts at quick studies of the shapes and features of Hitch, James Farentino, John Carradine,Vanderlai Silva, Gomi, Robert Blake, John Gavin. And others.

The beasts are my attempts to "flip" Claire wendling cats. I've got a study of her original sketch on the left, then you have the mirror on the right. I think the big cat head is the toughest thing to invent properly. But Wendling's are right up there with Frazetta.

I'm going to do more studies from the PRIDE event in the near future because they have some very interesting war torn features. Should make great "Flintstone " type Hanna Barbera character sheet material.

Caricatures and Goals for the next couple of weeks

For you Echoform.

I will be sketching from DVR pause (usually Perry Mason) and then turn that into a "Flintstoned" drawing.

The other sketch will be a "Flipped" Cat. Taking one of Claire Wendling's cat sketches and imagining the exact same pose from 180 degree different POV change. I hope that will give my brain the kind of work out it needs to start drawing cats the way she does.

Perry Mason and Fox News and Other

The guy on the left was from a Perry Mason. I always look the episodes up and discovered this actor Jack Betts has a really extensive career. My bet would have been he was one of many guys that gets in and out when the going gets rough finding parts.

The guy on the right is a Fox news reporter somewhere in the Middle East. The drawing top left next to him is a quick attempt at making him more line art and cartooney.

Under that is a Cab Driver that ran over some kids in Nashville

Home is where the cat drinks out of the tap

Somewhere in Culver City a 12 year old cat quenches its thirst
