Monsters and Dames more WIP

I'll probably fiddle with the colors of the background a lot more to push it back.  I want the windows to feel like they are bright in comparison to the rest of the scene.

UPDATE:  Changed some colors around, finished the base color pass and just started a bit of lighting FX.  Next will be highlights and shadows for the scene and perhaps some more lighting layers.  Still trying to decide if I should put the chandelier in... it would hang in that space above Occular and the tall guy behind her.

Sorry, I didn't intend for that to be my only comment--I'm on my phone and it's balky with the commenting....

This is such a cool scene! Live the addition of color--but

OOF sorry--BUT surprised to see bkg so warm...? And bright? Are you thinking of maybe knocking value of floor/bkg structure way down toward black? If you do, glow if windows won't have to be super hi-key--and might showcase bright figures is little better?

And honestly, the characters in line are so cool, I wouldn't mind them 2-3x's this size....maybe even let chubby guy at en

....end of the line have the foreground table (which I love) block much of his lower body...? Cuz it's a great scene, but even more than that, they're great characters, and u want to get a good look at em--y'know, showcase em!!

Looks great so far! The guy on the staircase... is he sort of tipsy and about to step off the stairs and take a fall, or am I misreading it?

You are correct... I put in those warm colors back there and immoderately regretted it. Once I get all of the colors in place I'll start messing with them. No doubt the background stuff will become cooler. I always planned for it to be darker... i typically lay in the base colors first and then start messing with values and adding additive layers to alter the colors and such. I've got a dog sniffing a spittoon to put in the foreground. There was also a chandelier that's supposed to be to the left of the flying creature, but I think I might not even do that. I've been going for density in this scene, but that might just be too much. the guy on the stairs isn't typsy, he's just making his way to that second level where the couple is in silhouette.

Oh, yeah... it was TAG night last night, so I've been putting in a couple of mornings on this to make some progress. I'm hoping to finish it off tonight.

I'm sure you'll hone it and give it everything it needs as a finish. I like to see how you've dialed this and that down. It will be interested to see where you go with the final.

I say yes to the chandelier, just so we can see. Take it out if it's ends up being too cluttered.

Graying the oranginess of the background is working well

I was up early again this morning and made significant progress. I'm thinking I will add the chandelier and see how it looks, but otherwise it's nearly done.
