Comic Con Ideas On Meetings

Any ideas on meeting? I know we did lunch last time but maybe dinner might be better. More time to sit and talk? More time for Scotty Buncake to wow us with his rapier sharp wit?? I know I would like more. Please any ideas are welcome! Submit them. The time is NOW!!!

Well, the most obvious idea is to have a panel on TAG... seriously, we could have a panel on the value of artists getting together for camaraderie, to grow as artist and the networking opportunities.

I have some friends that tried to put together a group of game concept artists for a panel... we have enough game artists for something specific to game art I suppose.

Perhaps we could put ourselves under the umbrella of "artists working in the popular arts".

We have all worked with film or TV licensed characters, perhaps we could do a "working with well-known IPs" panel.

Or we could do something like "the computer as an artist's tool".

BTW, I'm still not sure if I will be there or not... it depends on how the house search goes tomorrow. I think I will have a good idea of what we're in store for after we look at what's currently avalible.

That would be very cool ... but isn't it too late to do that? ...

If you guys pull off the panel idea, I'm there. Otherwise I may not make it this year. I didn't get my badge this year and I've not prepared for it, not budgeted for it. etc.
I'll be there next year because I'll have a graphic novel. It's going pretty well, about 30 pages of script breakdown thus far.

COOL, Ellis! Any chance of seeing a few excerpts? Panels are closed, I believe. I tried to get a panel "Comic Artists and Their Hair" okayed but no dice.

I think the dinner idea will be better for the reasons stated above (although replace 'Scott's rapier wit' with 'Jeff's tired stories about the war.') Lot o' eaterys to choose from. I'm in Carlsbad now remember so next time I'm down in SD I'll scope some places out. Remember, alot of restaurants have 'We serve no Ranjo's' signs posted downtown. We'll find something.

Lets absolutely craft a panel for next year. Get it in front of the approval commitee. More people on stage than in the audience! Shel can moderate. They still have those "No Ranjo" signs? I'm always a bit ashamed when I see those. But they tend to have the best food.

I'd love to come down this year, but I'm not gonna make it, unfortunately. Next year, tentatively, I will try and attend.

Buncake, click Ellis's other blog.
i've cut and pasted my script in it's current form. It's rough but it takes the important step of a shot count. I've just now got to where it's about to start writing itself. I have an outline with snips of dialogue that guides me on the breakdown. But it's cool how I solve turning an outline sentence into as much as 2 pages to get the job done of that outline sentence. Give me comments, tell me your problems. Give me suggestions for better names. I was surprised how attractivley formatted the cut and pasting came out. It's the second item down on the blog. The top item might amuse you.

I caused spacing weirdness so I deleted the comment with the extra space. See you at the Con next year ronnie. That's what i'll be shooting for
