Bat-Hulk 1966 - Brave and Bold #68

I should have googled "Bat-Hulk" earlier!
Guess there are no new ideas under the sun. And now that I see it, I remember this issue. Its probably been lurking in the back of my mind all along.

Weird that DC made their Hulkish character an oaf while Marvel went with a force of nature for their Hulk (he's a bit of a dim bulb at the same time, though). Strange. Maybe a backhanded compliment or just a general put-down?

See, I'm enough of a dim bulb that a simple google search didn't occur to me. That was a big deal in the silver age. Is to have horrible metamorphosis happen to characters and then snap back when they get the problem solved.
That one panel makes him look like a giant. His feet are firmly on the horizon line and vanishing point. And the bottom of the panel. Typically done by Carmine Infantino. I always liked that effect of depth sorting done intuitively. I've copied the ides a lot.

Yeah, I like how Infantino used to do that horizon line thing in the Flash comics. Maybe Sekowsky copied it from him. And I too liked all the "metamorphosis" stories. Jimmy Olsen turned into a giant turtle man. Lois and Superman turned into 5-year olds, The Legion of Super-Heroes turned into 5-year-olds, Superman turned into a lion-headed beast, and on and on. I've thought of doing a story like that.

I've always felt an unhappy, disgruntled artist designed Metamorpho. Probably shot himself that same year.
