I'm drawing everything with my left hand from now on

Dummy and Ugly.
Kind of like Goofus and Gallant.
But I can't decide who does things right.
I've decided Ugly is Goofus. Dummy is slow but he does right.
Inked with a Pilot rolling ball pen. With my right hand.

It kind of reminds me of Etch-A-Sketch drawing!

Hey, that's awesome! For me, it's like the left hand is pure, unfettered creativity. The more I try to impose rigidity into the drawing, the more my left defies me. It demands to be loose and experimental.

I'm beginning to think a workflow of blocking-in with the left and finishing with the right might be the best of both worlds.

It felt like I was using an etch a sketch. Like Ronnie says, it's the little things like hatching that just are hopeless to try.
This might be a great gag cartoon style for me.

Even after a few days of exclusive left-hand practice, the control really wasn't there. It took a solid week of practice with my left before I had anything even resembling control. After about two weeks, picking up a pencil with my left feels almost intuitive and I don't have to concentrate super-hard to get legible writing and some manner of control when drawing.

If this is something that interests you, Ellis, the best way I found to improve is total immersion, - which is frustrating and kind of impractical. But it's also really interesting and a lot of fun. I felt like a kid trying to learn how to do basic things when using my left. As weird as it's been, I do think it's been a good experience, overall.

This is an excellent experiment. I look forward to more reports!

Starting my 4 day weekend after work today. I'll draw something else with my left hand for a Tuesday sketch.

I'll try a gag cartoon.

These are hilarious--lefty seems to dredge up a stronger emotional reaxn. Yr Hulk looks more demonic and dire, yr Ugly and Dummy more comical.

All this lefty biz is funny 'cuz I JUST started playing tennis with my left hand. I did OK if the standard is terrible (my arm's still a little reluctant to reach full capacity since the surgery. Better to let it heal slowly).

Since I haven't been commenting for so long, it would feel rude to post something. I'll wait a bit.

Glad to see you guys are doing well!

Thanks Marty. It's a weird feeling to draw with the stupid hand. I forgot you are healing an injury of your drawing hand. Still so weakened you're resorting to tennis with the left. Hope that gets better soon.
Post whenever you get the notion.
Jim hopefully gives us some sign of life as well before too much longer

Curious about what you'll be displaying. Of course.
Thanks for the Jim update.
The monocle was the best touch.

Just watched the Youtube clip. I needed some wacky today.
Got enough bummers in orbit around me.

Ellis, that Weird Al clip made my day! Thanks!

I had no idea about Tommy Ramone's background until I read his bio after his death. I may do a tribute to him at this year's Masked Ball at Comic Fest. Interestingly, the convention had already been planning to do something with the Weird Tales of the Ramones anyway.

The exhibit I have in mind is for the opera sketch works of Marty, Eric, Buncake, et al.
To drum up some excitement about Comic Fest's Artist Alley.

Sounds like the ComicFest is really shaping up. All except the Buncake part.
