Story Trailer for Avatar

The spoiler hating bunch should probably avoid.

Waste of time posting that. At least with firfox and my mac. I see half the screen.

I added the embed below it to see if I just don't embed right

Night on Bald/Bare Mountain just in time for Halloween! Speaking of bare, why were people so concerned about the topless female centaurs but not about the harpies from Night on Bald mountain? Those nearly filled the screen!

Boy, it's like a video game come to life. They must have hired all the concept artists from the MMORPG community. But it actually looks like a good film.

Google "Call Me Joe" and "Avatar" and you will get a somewhat disappointing revelation about this movie. Cameron has claimed up and down that this is his original idea, but it's obvious he was 'influenced' by Poul Anderson's short story. I guess good artists borrow, but great artists steal. I really don't care for the Blue Cat People design. Instead of looking like an alien race, the Na'Vi look like something out of World of Warcraft. I think the 'District Nine" approach to aliens, and how humans would interact with them, was a much more compelling take on the cliche. Neil Blomcamp, the D9 director, lamented in the latest issue of Cinefex, how he eventually had to humanize the look of the aliens, the eyes, in particular, in order to make them more sympathetic with the audience. He said most folks can't relate to something truly alien.

Very similar, indeed. Cameron had to eventually acknowledge the concept of The Terminator had more than a little similarity to some of the Outer Limits stories cooked up by Harlan Ellison and a story, "Second Variety," by Phillip K. Dick.

Second Variety in Terminator? Hmm. I guess so. Human looking robots lulling you with their ordinariness until they're ready to kill you. Screamers was fairly close to the Dick story

According to the wikipedia entry on the first Terminator flick, Cameron intended the Terminator to be a fairly ordinary-looking person and not the bulky meat-head he found in Ahnuld. Cameron initially wanted Lance Henrickson as the terminator and I guess if he had gone that route, the Second Variety link would have been more obvious.

Is this a STAND UP FIGHT, or another Bug Hunt?
