Well it's early morning and another new post. I started a new sketchbook with a better rag paper. Decided to use various prismacolor pencils to see what results I would get once scanned. I like the red but the sienna was a disaster with my crappy scanner.

That lack of tooth also makes for an improved line. Paper is a tool. It's like a brush to a painter. If you're the only painter that doesn't know the best painters use Langnickel brushes for detail work, you're the painter with the out of control blobs and smears with your grumbacher camel hairs.

I like the way the sketches look on this paper. You've made some interesting characters here, are you going to develop any beyond these little portraits?

These are just exercises at this point. I haven't drawn like this in years, I have a few ideas I'm going to implement soon but I wanted to work it all out on paper. I'm moving on to body construction next. Just enjoying the journey back to basics.
