Page O' Faces ...

Most of these sketches were done in odd moments: during soccer practices, lunchtime doodles. A few got pulled up into TWITCH! ... I edited a few notes off of the page (emails, etc. ... to protect the innocent).

I especially like the guy with the ears that make his head look like a vase.

Any reason why some are really dark?

check out "The Techniques of Feng Zhu, Volume 1: Design Process - Fighting Robots." It's a Gnomon DVD and it's priceless to get into his technique of using silhouettes to determine an instantly readable silhouette. The robots I made a while ago were done with this technique. Essentially I block out a shape with a dry erase marker and then work back into it with China marker and white pencil. If I like it, I scan it in and continue working up the lights and darks in Photoshop ... Lotsa fun, and really easy to get something started on the quick.

Here is the URL to Feng's DVD:

I'll find the link to my robots done in similar style and post it, too ...

I like the hair-bun man best--some lost edges, nice approach to the eyes, etc., made this one stand out for me.
