Kirby you say

I logged on to lament my being laid off yet again and to check up on Ellis when I saw the Kirby posts. Here is a badge I did for the Con way back when you could get in free if they picked your badge. The second badge design is being worn by Jack himself at the convention. The photo is from the Kirby Collector Volume 1, Issue 1.

I was watching Night Tide with Dennis Hopper last night. I want to go back to 1961 Santa Monica and live.

Sorry about the lay off Ben.. Hope you get something good. That lets you be creative with a decent wage.

Very cool having a photo of Jack Kirby wearing your art. I forgot to mention I was impressed.

Ben, man, really sorry to hear about the layoff. That is no fun.

That badge is an amazing historical document. "Kirby's knee"! And so cool you got to do it for The King!!

I think the Con needs to hire you to do a complete "brand" makeover for them...super-retro!

Maybe the ComicFest in October will open up their badges for illustration. The person who did the badge art last year is no longer involved.

That's a great idea, Ben... are you listening Beata?

I am in solidarity with all my laid off brothers... been there and done that, so I know what it's like. I think it's the new normal, cycles of work rather than a steady job that can be counted on for years and years.

However, there is work that needs to get done and there are folks out there who like to hire experienced people. The hard part is maintaining a positive attitude while looking. Employers like to hire happy people.

Yes, I'm listening.
Let's talk soon, Ben.
