I bought this 1957 used copy of Arthur C. Clarke's "The City and the Stars". I remember reading it in high school or college and always wanted to get hold of a copy to re-read. The illustrator of the cover is not given credit. Anyone know who the artist is? Love these old style covers.

Marty Detritus
Sorry I've been M.I.A. so long. Did some life drawing in the class that followed mine. 1 hour pose. Hadn't done the old Ritmo-style tonal drawing in years and years...professor had an interesting practice of turning off all the room lights except for a few dim overhead cans, then blasting light on the model. Made it hard as hell to see, but an interesting way to do values.
Loved this head I did for the class...used a Tombow brushpen. Added some supermodels to make my point about comparative proportions.
I'm not a huge fa of the Tombow brushpen, but it makes such clear marks on the page it seems like the best option for showing the students how I work when drawing in front of the class.
I am keeping my head above water--just. Thankful for the gig. And the students on the whole do seem to be learning. So my conscience is clear.

Done as I watched 7 Faces of Dr Lao
Finished by the time Merlin hit the stage.
It helps a lot to have that going on in collaboration.

Recent Robot- Plus a Tin Man idea
Had the idea of a robot Alien busting out of Tin Man. Something Ranjo could do about 10 times better than me.
Of course the Alien is supposed to molt first.

More EnWorld freelance
This will have a grid around the edges, arrows, role playing notes abut angle -speed.
Flying wizard-female.
Dragon in back
Pencils.
I changed it a bit after seeing it on the blog. Her folded forward leg looks so much better in the rough. I re drew it. The other one was too long and boring, We'll see how many more edits as I photoshop it.
Color. I'll upload one without the grid bits.
One thing that makes iteasier to do is have all the masks mad before you start.
Without the grid and type

My new work area
In my new digs, Got the bulk of the stuff in today before the rain and need to reorganize it all. Now I've got to get the drawing table and the rest of the collectible crap still at the house and I'll be all moved out.

Did this while I watched Jonah Hex
Jonah Hex was OK. Josh Brolin got you into the character. One problem it had was it tried to tell an Old Wild Wild West story instead of doing something with the strengths that it had.
