Derreck Jackson- Oklahoma Comic Creator- Dies age 40

I saw him, bought his product, shared table space in artist alley with him. We drew sketches for the kids on Batman day.
He's also on a couple of my youtube videos of local comic book events.
Apparently had a seizure a couple of days ago and didn't recover.
I believe he was also an instructor, teaching kids to do comic art with the goal of doing graphic novels.

Well that's a terrible shame. So young. Very sobering when someone you know first-hand dies.

Sounds like a pretty great guy. Reminds me of all the great people I've met through TAG both past and present.

This group has had two recent deaths of people I met at the local cons.

My Thursday morning started with my Mom screaming at 5:30. My brother had fallen down, was stiff as a board having a seizure.

Called 911. He came back pretty much on his own. It was an alcohol related thing. His kidneys can't keep sodium at necessary levels.

The ambulance took him away and he'll be staying at a hospital for the next 2 days.

It was hellish. My old mom, my prematurely old brother.

Both of them try my very limited patience when I need to be the soul of patience.

It's tough.

The plus is I am big and healthy. It was zero effort for me to move Russ. When Russ had to do similar things to my Dad, he couldn't physically do the moving. I could pick Russell up and carry him with one arm.

What a terrible day for you so far Ellis! That would be so hard, but you are right. It's good that you are the strong, healthy one and are able to help when you are needed.

Everything is cool right now. Russell sounds like himself. Maybe it's a wake up call. He'll be off smokes for 2 days. That may kill him. And I doubt they'll be giving him any booze.

I hope this is the proverbial rock bottom and he climbs back.

Russ is back home. All is ...not well... just the norm.

He does a lot around here. I missed his presence.

His cat was never going to accept me. It would eat the food but it would never accept me.
