New Technology for Curing Color Blindness

Just in case any artist out there is color blind -- I knew a color blind artist in college, a couple of years older than me, Gary Ruddell.  Very talented guy. He started doing major illustration work right out of college.  Became known for science fiction and fantasy covers. One of the school's success stories. Went over to his studio once.  He asked me if the pair on pants on a character in his painting looked okay or if he was mixing up his red and green.

Anyway, new glasses that cure color blindness:

My God! I'll finally be able to truly see my rump!

No. This is huge Tom. Thanks for the link. I must try these things.

Ellis, we are all anxious to see just how colorful yours is.

Ah, green monkey rump.

I have that book and it's sequel.

I guess some people just can't get enough monkey rump.

How did you like the novels? They seem to have won some awards and acclaim. Wikipedia says a movie is in development.

Wait--that monkey's butt is blue, isn't it???

Ellis, are you messing with us?

BTW, big points for including a baboon posterior in yr post, Tom. That's what we love about you--you always go that extra mile....

And color-correcting glasses would be great! Blair's color is a twitch off, and this could quash one of our only points of contention--whether something is blue or green...(interesting that on her own eyeballs, her irises are green-blue-grey, and seem to change from day to day...I've almost got her believing this is the cause of her color blindness!).

(Almost...but not quite.)

That's funny Marty. Patty and I have similar disagreements. I never thought about (one of us) having actual color-blindness.

I was lucky--with Blair, she, my pal Peet and myself were standing on a street corner when a bus pulled up. The bus had a big ad pasted to it--some car? or girl in a dress? I forget.

Blair said, "Ooh, I love that green car/dress," and Peet and I both said, "Green?! You mean blue!"

That's when I got her. I had corroboration on my side.

Women are rarely color blind. In fact, I don't think there is such a thing. I think they only carry the gene. You have to be xy to have color blindness. Can't be xx. Do I know this for a fact? I will after I look it up on the internet. I'll do a search. Can women be colorblind? Not impossible, but rare

Tom Moon said...

Not that rare it seems. It's carried on the X chromosome. If a man has it on his X he's color blind. If a woman has it on both X's she is color blind. A couple of quick checks say 1 in 20 for men, 1 in 200 for women. If 1 in 200 females had three eyes like Dr. Ocular we would think of it as "not uncommon".

You combine facts into convincing presentations Tom. 1 in 200 women color blind. That's a lot.

I've always said Blair is special.
