WIP on the Role Playing art- Interrupted by storyboard work

I'm working on this.
I've tabled the MsValkyrie while the writer catches up on paypal and scripting.
While I'm working on this, I get a call from someone repping Bully Pictures. Very legit commercial advertising outfit based in LA to do some storyboards in downtown OKC tomorrow.
I said I'd bill 25 an hour. Probably way lowballed but 3 times what I make at Avis.

I hope I have the energy to get both these colored after work tomorrow. Glad to have the drawing done.

What can I say. They both suck. Need to calibrate that cintiq badly. But it's mainly not having good instincts in general for color.
The deadline loomed, had to send it through.

"FUME" Issue No. 1 Cover (in progress)

I've seen this image in my mind for so long...trying to prepare myself for the inevitable disappointment.

And I am so far behind on this. Lucked into a freelance gig fo the next 7 days--but it requires me being on-site in San Jose and working 'round the clock. Prognosis for ECCC issue debut looking dire....

how-i-do-balloons-in-photoshop

A tool to help us all all tap into the internet's love affair with cats.
And some doodles

How I do Balloons in Photoshop

Get the text the size and location you want.
Select the pen tool and use it to create a path around the text.

(The long curvy line should point to the pen tool in the tool menu instead of the color select box. Always great to make typos and errors in tutorials.)
I usually get what I want with one pass, but you can fine tune the nodes on the balloon with the individual point select tool
Right click on the path and 'make selection'
fill the selection under the text layer with white (or other) color.
Then stroke the still present work path.
Use the pencil tool for a constant smooth line. You can experiment with different brushes,
Try 'simulate pressure'  -I've used it.
Mainly use the pencil- It uses the current settings of the pencil tool- set that up first.
