I don't have a lot of familiarity with Trimpe's work, but in one of the early Marvel TPB was a Trimpe Hulk vs. Namor story that is really great. He penciled and inked it, and it looks more like a pen than a brush... terrific crosshatching. not at all the usual Marvel house style of the time.
Those were the days. George Tuska, Herb Trimpe, Rich Buckler, Al Milgrom, (Early) Jim Starlin, Gene Colon, Klaus Janson, Pablo Marcos, Mike Ploog and all the rest running around at that time.
The people who influenced my childhood just keep dying off. Sad to think we can no longer nurse the fantasy of someday meeting them and telling them how much we appreciated their work.

Yeah, I saw that Bob Layton had mentioned this too. One of my favorites as well.

Trimpe had quite a life. I just read much of it on Wikipedia.
I remember a lot of derision aimed at Trimpe art. But he was solid.
As a guy that tries to do the same task, his feat is huge.
Just be solid with a mad dog work ethic. I'm sure Marvel would rather hire a Trimpe over a talented flake any day.
I saw he was a religious person, Deacon in his Church. I'm sure they called on him to do a lot of things with his art. RIP.

Tom: They keep dying off...or could it be that someone is killing them off?!?
Just asking the question.
What a great idea for a detective story Marty! Have to ponder this more.
Wasn't that part of the plot of 'The Incredibles' (only with superheroes instead of artists)?
And the Watchmen.
