Bad Character Designs

Just goofing around....I don't have the knack for character design.

Or scenes that require perspective.

A lesson in circuitous re-blogging: pulled these down from my Tumblr page, where they'd been cross-posted from my original Instagram post, which was done from my phone...oy.

ME (in Charles Nelson Riley voice): "It's Tuesday, people!"

Why not rag on Man of Steel?

Got nothing else to contribute.

Aw drats. I just noticed that Gorham posted this on Facebook already.

Edit by SurlyBird: I'll add this new photo of Jared Leto as the Suicide Squad's Joker just to spice things up. Does DC/Warner Bros. not want me to see their movies? Not a fan of any of their movie offerings from the past decade. Boring, dreary, ugly and just bleh. I'll pass, yet again.

RPG progress

Time for some photoshop. I have to have these finished in the next couple of days. Getting over my shuttle tiredness at the moment. I did the figures in this drawing when I was dog tired yesterday.

Coloring this was tough. Too many weird, see through, composites to make.

Got all the pencil drawing done.
Lots of photoshop left to go.
 Photoshop done on this.
Always a compromise when I'm doing color.

Kids at the con. One with an r2d2 backpack.

Index cards that didn't sell at the NWCC.
The hulk was done late and might have sold.
The old yellowed line art is from my Opubco career for a client called United Home Foods.
I think I wrote the copy.
35 years old?
It was in the tub of art-
'Ancient and recent. Please browse. Make an offer.'.
People expressed interest in buying it several times.

A Few Choice Frames....

Been on a crazy bender doing some boards. They gave me 3 pages of a feature length script to board. Wanted some acting.
Dialog is out of sequence--these are just a couple of snippets thrown together...I did over 200 frames for the 3 pages--as a first pass. Oof. I have a feeling they aren't going to be impressed.
p.s. They haven't finalized their models...and neither have I!

UPDATE: They din't like anything...back to the drawing board....
p.p.s. teaser for Tom Moon's back page drawing in his copy of FUME!

rpg art

elf mage

Home Page

Cobbled together from bits and pieces of art from the stories.

UPDATE: Marty's 2 cents:
Tommy, I love what you're doing...here's my fantasy of including yr wonderful character heads in the header...as you hover over each one, word balloon could pop up with appropriate page title ("COMICS," "CONTACT," etc.). You got such wonderful characters and art!

NWCC 2015

The Con was a major success from my standpoint as a vendor. I made some money and had a great bit of interaction with pure Okie Comic Book Fandom.
Someone complained about it being hot. The large room was hotter than the artist alley. Plus, we had cloud cover and a fairly pleasant temperature outdoors. If that sun had been streaming through the windows the same way we started the morning, it could have been an oven. So we lucked out.

The hardest thing for Buck at New World to duplicate next time will be the space. I called it a dilapidated vibe. A vintage office space with carpet and ceiling tore out, waiting for renovation for a new tenant, might be hard to come by for the next con.

The groovy little bar made me want to rent office space in the Paramount.

This was my impromptu signage at the con. My pricing for sketches. Sold a lot of index card sketches. Ones I was producing for fun. Only had a couple of actual commissions. One commission from Josh Fearing of Captain Janeway. I did her phazer set to kill.

The sign for the sketches (with it's folded, free standing, design) was a magnet for every kid that was eye level to the table. They all had the same thought. That paper wants to be flat. And would press the sign back into its original flat state.

Trash Bot!

This was my art project for the day. Nicholas had to do an Earth Day project for second grade. It's due tomorrow.  He's had it for two weeks and I just got told about it today.  So we quickly built a garbage-gathering-recycling robot by cutting up and taping, old shoe boxes together.  Then we applied texture maps with glue.  Just like in Maya, only slower!

This gave me an idea for my new business - This week's multi-million-dollar idea:

"Parents!  I will do your kid's school art projects for them!
$50 an hour plus material costs.

Tired of those pesky school assignments that force you to take time off from your high-paying job and spend time with your child fumbling with scissors, glue and paper?!  Let me do the work. I guarantee a passing grade for your child or your money back!  Call 1(800) 555-1212 and make your appointment today!"

New World Comic Con

I did well. Probably made about 200 bucks.
So with all the stuff I bought made about 2 bucks.
No, it feels like I made 200 bucks.
Bought stuff, maybe 40 bucks worth of stuff. Still had the 200.

Everyone did well.
The space was great. It was vintage office space about to be remodeled extensively for a new tenant. But we got to use it while it had this fun dilapidated vibe.
