I've seen this image in my mind for so long...trying to prepare myself for the inevitable disappointment.
And I am so far behind on this. Lucked into a freelance gig fo the next 7 days--but it requires me being on-site in San Jose and working 'round the clock. Prognosis for ECCC issue debut looking dire....

Your visual sense and ability to conceptualize blow me away. I am especially intrigued by the woman with the lobster hat pulling the child along.
Very cool. I like comatose Teen Ellis taking it all in. 7 days worth of onsite work. Hope that goes well.
What kind of freelance gig in San Jose? Video games? Movie concept storyboards? Private client pet portraits? Political magazine caricatures?
Portraits of political pets.
I kid! I kid!
It's storyboards for an educational game co. Fun stuff so far.
Tommy, seriously, thank you so much for sharing your positive take on this--I had been stewing on this particular image for such a long time I'd lost the ability to see anything fresh or appealing about it. You've given me renewed hope!
Now I just have to get home and finish it....
...want to make the kid a bit more repellent, too.
Glad you like the lady in the hat--tho' it's s'posed to be a scorpion she's wearing. I'm good at humans, bad at invertebrates...she and the kid are s'posed to look very '30's-'40's 'cuz I'm trying to make in an irrational dream-state mash-up of different eras...or something.
I like it that Teen Ellis drawing is channeling Herbie.
This comic book with all it's ins and outs, great characters, weirdness, it's gonna leave a mark.
Say it ain't so! You MUST finish FUME! I must have my copy of FUME!
Looking forward to seeing you guys soon! I'm in the midst of figuring out some of my con stuff as well. We'll see what I actually come up with for the table.
