I'd happily do the comic book version

Introduction to King Kong. The novelization that came out at the time of the movie release.
Good stuff. I could do Skull Island pre-quel ideas all day long.

I don't suppose that King Kong is going to fall into public domain any time soon, is it?

It's been out long enough but i believe public domain doesn't have actual mandates. Can't people, estates, keep perpetual copyrights?

Like Mickey Mouse. I believe he had some sort of careless close one with public domain status. But Disney swooped in and said " Fat chance."

I thought I put a comment on this??

I love yr Kong-bition. Copyright law was indeed changed at the behest of Diz, et al a little while back...I forget the in's and out's, but the cut off is around 75 years (I think?). Fer instance, L. Frank Baum's "Oz" is public domain now, (hence Eric and Scottie Young's books), but Mickey isn't.

Dunno where that puts Kong...

...except right in the lap of Goodson!

Kong is about 81. But the wiki on it makes it clear that copyright and ownership is still being exercised. Legal is the longest part of the wiki.
Interesting. The book I'm reading is the only thing Cooper outright owned. He discovered that when he fought licensing Kong to Toho.
