Down to the dang wire, too...phew! All comments/criticisms/suggestions welcome!
This is a half pager in the complimentary 'Con guidebook...at a paltry $85, I thought it was worth flier....
Now if I could only finish the thing--and get it printed!

That's gonna work. Is it already sent in? I'd want a little pop. Have Teen Ellis white or toned w the reverse for the bkgd. tone or white.
Great ad. Reads well. The little character is doing great acting for you.
I felt I waa finally getting to where my drawn characters were acting a bit. Important step to being a fan favorite.
LOL!!!!!
Good point about the tone, Elz--and it would have added to the sophistication. But looking at the ads from last year, I thought I'd err on the side of hand-drawn, b&w. Hoping it'll look punchy that way.
I am trying to represent the feel of the book without just hoisting a panel up...very uncomfortable process to write copy about yrself. Use of the word "SENSATION" should be taken as firmly tongue-in-cheek!
SENSATION status will arrive soon.
There are many sensations in the world Marty.
The Ad looks great! I have spread it far and wide.
It is hard to write copy for yourself. See, now for you I would have gotten rid of the word "by" in the word balloon.
Ha! Tommy, you are too kind. Funnily enuff, when I first showed Blair the image as a WIP, an overlap issue was obscuring the "BY" in "...NEW COMIC BOOK SENSATION BY MARTY..." and Blair read it as you proposed...and her reaction was, "Don't you think that's a little...grand?"
Rick, thank you for sharing this. I feel ridiculous promoting myself--but in this day-n-age, I better get used to it!!
Tell Blair I LOVE her reaction. I can just hear her saying those very words. She should be a recurring character in your comics. Of course that's exactly the kind of thing that other people would write about your in a press release. It's just hard to write it about yourself.
Yeah, we had ALL better get used to it. That's why I created the FB 'art of RS' page. We all need those channels to get the word out. It's another reason I'm trying the con thing... it's important to learn how to connect and expand your personal audience. It needs to be part of our tool kit these days... it's what can set you and your work apart from all the other folks out there.
Good idea about the FB art page Rick.
The FB thing is kinda cool because when someone likes something I post it will appear in their timeline and in some of that person's friends timeline. I've gotten Likes on my posts from people I don't know... mutual friends of people who have liked my page. The other nice thing about the "Art of" page is that it gives me somewhere for people who I want to see my work and know what's going on with me professionally to Like instead of filling up my personal FB timeline with a bunch of folks who aren't necessarily my 'friends'.
