Lot of stuff to review. Awesome that something free to anyone is getting so much serious talent making it their tool.

Ronnie! This is cool stuff--esp'ly for free!

Dude, we hope the cartoon Surly abides in good health....

Cartoon Surly abides, but I've hit the pause on production briefly while I dig into Richard Williams 'Animator's Survival Kit', Jeff Lew tutorials, and study motion, framing and camera work from my favorite movies (thanks for encouraging me to that, BTW..it's really paying off). I'm making tons of quick walk and run cycles (with generic, pre-rigged characters) and action clips and I'm studying weight and movement in a way I've never done before. I'm trying to get as fluent with the technical stuff as I can. I don't want to fight tools once I've got everything planned out. Doing a bunch of exercises helps me learn what does and doesn't work without digging too deep of a hole.

From a pipeline standard, I've pretty much decided to go with Blender for just about everything now - minus the modeling of Surly - which is mostly done. Blender is the best tool for the job: I can model, UV, rig and animate, render, composite, edit, do FX and even color grading, etc. all in one application. It's pretty amazing that I can do just about everything in this amazing free program.

So everything is still on track. Just trying to make sure I lay a solid foundation.
