Doing something in Illustrator

I've forgotten everything I thought I knew about Illustrator.
Trying to make a simplified, stylized copy of this lion head. I'll get it.
A lot of it is smart methodology.
Good exercise.
Got me into practical reach of doing something better.

Working for MGM again, eh?

I've never used Illustrator before...now I'm scared!

I think both Flash and Illustrator have some sort of "vectorize bitmap" tool. I don't use it frequently enough to recall just where it is either. It might be some sort of export function.

I already autotraced it. The result is on the lowest level of this piece. I like Flash's results for tracing. Here it's just to have something to trace up and change as I go.
Autotrace also has a simplify that drops a scaling amount of detail. That can be useful.

Tell me this will be going onto some kind of trophy.

This is some brush tool, mostly pen-tool with selection fills.
The next thing I do will be pen-tool with stroke variety.
Got direct feedback from the guy grooming me for my interview to come. The tornado damage has the company and employees a bit distracted.
Maybe I should do a clean version of my Batman Avatar.

Saw several good previews on FLIXTER, a Roku channel. Flashy sci-fi, creepy horror. But what I most want to see is MUD.

That looks like it might be classic.

El: what are these previews you refer to? A movie called Flixter? Mud?

That tornado stuff sounds very "YIKES!"

Mud. 2012? MUD
Interesting about the movie. They cast a local kid from Gravelly Arkansas, where my Mom is from. He's apparently a natural. My Mom taught him as a substitute teacher. Said he was a great kid. But also the laziest student she ever had.
Anyway, Mom says the everyman review of the one local that's seen it calls it mediocre.

Flixter is a channel on ROKU devices. Streaming deal like a modem for cheap-wads like me. I'm so cheap I don't even get Netflix on it any more.
They show trailers. What's on DVD, Coming Soon, In Theatres Now, Coming to DVD. And I know they change as the time frame changes. The Tom Cruise Oblivion is definitely a more fleshed out trailer now that it has hit.

Got some other news to report when I get back from a little run. I'll just make a new post.
