The Doodle factory

The Uncle Goggle versions at the top. One I drew in the van- trying to remember how I drew the character the first time. Then I looked him up. Remembered he has no ears- he's like a mummified burn victim.
The rest are recent index card doodles.

Had a great bit of luck with the fellow I'm doing the commissions for. He has quite the appetite for my work. He's giving me several more tasks and he pays well.

I love this sort of stuff from you, Ellis... just pure sketching goodness. Your work speaks for itself and doesn't need much in the way of digital enhancement. Pure, immediate and visceral!

Thanks Rick. I'm prepped for working on this commission coming up. More of the same. Cartoons of girlfriends and former girlfriends. The guy says he'll have me busy for about 6 pieces.

I've rethought the ventriloquist approach. I want to haul ass through the thing. Have it look like very direct story art. That one panel- I like it it, but it would take too long.

Great stuff! Some of the best drawings we've seen from yr pencil--really nice! Love the creature crawling on the branch.

Great to hear yr talents are being appreciated--and properly compensated.

Yr first stab at recalling Uncle Goggle looks like that Heavy Metal mag (?) character that was similarly goggled, but 'roid'ed to hugeness (was that Den? I never really got to read that stuff...). Uncle Goggle is great, but I find it impossible not to call him "Google."

I spell it google all the time. Maybe Google will buy him and do a name change. He's for sale. I mil.

You're thinking of Ran Xerox. He does resemble him. Great artist- Libatore. Does work that bears a passing resemblance to what you invented with the boxers. Really strong character invention with obvious classical study as a basis.
