I'm going back to the drawing board with this one. Just not funny. But I had to put something up for Tuesday--and I can't post the drawings I did for Beata or Ellis's BPB books until they get a chance to see 'em first!
UPDATE: Here's the redo. And no jokes about dogs-as-food, dogs-as-cannibals, etc.

I think the drawing is great. Good cartoon dogs. Are we supposed to caption it ouselves? I'll give it a shot. "I will not live in a house with a canine that eats my crap before I do! Good day!"
Awesome dogs, Marty. I love the Archie Bunker chair. I can't top you, Ellis.:)
Ha! Marty, your post inspired me to google "Dogs Playing Poker". One of the images lead me to this website: http://etchartist.com/etchdogspoker.html
which is an Etch-A-Sketch rendition of dogs playing poker. The whole web site is this artist's Etch-A-Sketch art portfolio. Makes me want to give it a try.
Oh, the Etch-Uh-Sketch is a great tool. I'll have to check out the link!
Ellis, your caption is much better than the one I came up with. I showed Blair and she diplomatically said, "I don't love it...."
Ouch!
That's why you have to keep her at all cost.
Funny that for you, "Going back to the drawing board" is not just an expression.
All right. I'm giving in to the temptation to ask, "What was the original intended caption?"
Tom, it was so lame...these are based on two actual dogs--the dogs are owned by two separate families, but are "friends." And one family is moving to Vietnam.
It goes downhill from there.
I was gonna do something like, "Dude, nobody's sending ME to 'Nam!! I'm skippin' out to Canada! You with me?!?"
See...terrible. Outdated and unfunny.
Of course I've been struggling with the elephant in the room: dogs as food. Don't want a joke that has any relation to that idea!
Go with the elephant. It's what's funny.
I think it's ALL funny.
And wait till you guys see Marty's sketch he did for me, plus another one he did that must remain super secret for a few more days!
EVERYONE NEEDS TO BUY HIS SKETCHBOOK!!!
I should buy 10 more just to get the bonus sketches. Then sell the original drawings on E-Bay for $200 each. That will give me enough to buy 100 more sketch books and so on...
Beata, you are very sweet...and so sorry I jumped the gun on posting yr brother's drawing--oops!
Tommoon, always knew you to be a devious sort. Your career as art speculator begins....
It would be cool to have my retirement job be "multi-billionaire". Let's see...
$200
$2,000
$20,000
$200,000
$2,000,000
$20,000,000
$200,000,000
$2,000,000,000 Jackpot!
Ha!
Because $200,000,000 = clearly not enough.
One dog stands on shore, waving at his fellow dog sailing away on the ship bound for Viet-Nam. The wistful thought bubble over the first dog reads, "Sigh. Gone."
I know, I know. But "Ho Chi Minh City" doesn't work.
HA! Tommy, that's a good one--a real good one. Would have used it, too--but my only instructions were to show a moment of intimacy betwixt the two pooches.
And not that kind of intimacy.
Heh... love the second one... is there anything you can't draw, sir?
