Emerald City Comic Con 2013 was a fantastic experience on every level--personal, professional, informational. But the most significant event of the weekend may prove to be the discovery of this young man:
Born to play The Teen Ellis.

He's not haunted enough. Plus the strawberry popsicle lips are too dominant as a feature. Like the frames.
Seriously. Great that you guys were there.
Super congrats for the hard work to make the deadline with the pubs.
Ellis!
This pic doesn't do the resemblance justice--seriously. It's not that he looks like you--it's that he looks like The Teen Ellis!!
Dude, you are coming to this event next year, even if we have to kidnap you. You will have a blast.
We are going to hire this kid to walk around the Con handing out Teen Ellis pins.
...and you need to check Brushpen Breakfast for my Tom Moon caricature (bonus Rick Schmitz, too).
Great drawings on your blog Marty.
Brush Pen Breakfast
I see what you mean about the kid. The camera loves him.
found a Gay Ellis yesterday
I don't get "Gay Ellis".
I agree. He looks like the drawings do.
Yay Benjamin!
Gay Ellis was a character name on the UFO show. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson show
My first comment was meant as "I like the frames." Not adding the frames to why he doesn't work as me. He works as Teen Ellis
Ellis, I'm thrilled to report people at ECCC totally dug The Teen Ellis. Some are even inquiring via Facebook if there is a full-on Teen Ellis comic out yet (!!).
Dude, you're in for a slice of the royalties. A big slice!
Alright! Royalties.
Seriously, Teen Ellis is a get hired anywhere piece.
Who do you want to work for?
MAD is kind of a closed shop.
Pitch to DC or Marvel.
Or better yet Darkhorse.
Or even yet better, tell Fantagraphics your idea for Teen Ellis.
They do the good alt stuff.
I honestly think that Teen Ellis has some legs. I would love to read more sagas about Teen Ellis, the boy who's "aces with a pencil!" Cleverly written and stellarly illustrated!
Dudes! Thanks mucho for the encouragement. I gotta make it happen!
