After studying the skull for a few days and some info on facial rhythm in a characture book I read at Borders. This was my results. Some a little sloppy but my hand keeps cramping on that.

Need To Contact Disney Legal ... ;-)

Does anyone know how to reach responsible people in Disney's legal department. On a suggestion by George Davis (some of you might know George from the film coloring jobs some of you had ... can't remember the company's name) I emailed Mike Royer about the cookbook and even though he hasn't given me a recipe (yet), he did dig out about ten sketches he did for Winnie the Pooh stuff that had to do with food. Excellent!! What fun work he did / does!!

But to use them in the book I need Disney's permission ...

Anyone know a strategy I might employ? I hate to just knock at the front door because the problem is I might get "no" right away and I want to avoid this, especially since at least 1/2 of the book's proceeds are going to two charities ...

Ideas?

IPhone Brushes

I did this with a remarkably polished IPhone app called Brushes. It was fun to use and it has a nice range of colors, brushes and options to alter both.

Here is the "What is Worship?" video that has all the silly kids. BTW: My little 8 year old, Nathaniel, is the kid talking about reading and videogames ... I wish it was more reading and less videogames ... For a while that was him on the wallpaper, but now it's changed to the girl in the pink dress ... strange ...

I added one of my own cartoons as a tattoo idea so I'm not mocking Krayonzilla.

It will be a couple of hours before Krayonzilla discovers what I did to his art. See what I mean about white space. That's the main reason I wanted to mess with it to make the point to let your art breath.

Well it's almost 4am. And I figured I post another excerpt from my sketchbook since I posted the first one on 8/19. I think I'm getting my mojo back. The rag on this recycled paper is really bad. The soft lead just gets soooo messy after a point. Usually put in about 4 to 6 hours a night to early morning. Think I've seen every Fresh Prince of BelAir early morning rerun so far while I work on getting rid of the rust in my pencil.

You've got quite a touch with a Chimp Jeff. All the stories were great ( well, maybe not all). The one I read last was the Sherlock Holmes-like story because it had so much text. I ended up liking it a lot.

Why does Byron Howard look so much like Chris Sanders? Who influenced who?

Anyway, great book. Wish I had the first one...Rocket Johnson?

I made the title a link to the animatic I made of the characters depicted in the digitally modified oil painting shown. It's not Torch Tiger related.

Some Initial Success for "Batter! Broil!! Baste!!!"

FYI ... While it isn't a contract (yet), I have been contacted back by three publishers for "Batter! Broil!! Baste!!! The Comic Creators Cookbook," but I'm getting ahead of myself. After putting in more changes two nights ago, I spent last night from 12-3am sending out emails to publishers and companies that I found on a Web site list ... This morning there was an editor from Scribner (a division of Simon and Schuster) who wants me to send an official proposal, then came in an email from an editor at Conde Nast who said, "Please send me a manuscript, or whatever you have at this point. Many thanks," ... and then I got a phone call from another editor who said he rarely calls back from email submissions but made an exception for B! B!! B!!! His company published the book "Taking Woodstock" which recently became a movie by Ang Lee ...

More will happen, for sure. It's only 12 hours since the emails went out.

This is getting fun.

**Snore** ... Colors and letters took from 12 - 3:30 am ... But the "accomplishment" means I'm actually not too sleepy today (well, not yet).

I'll skip a night (I'm sketching page 10 right now) and will color another page tomorrow morning.

Met Joe Rubenstein at Comic Con; Here Is His New Onlie Portfolio

My First Comic ... Ever.

In the DVD I mentioned below, the Comic Book series from The Write Environment ... Mark Waid mentioned that he had a copy of the very first comic he ever read. I took that to heart and went out on Ebay and found a copy of the July issue of Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom, the one where he battles a mysterious outbreak of prehistoric creatures. I purchased it prior to boarding the SS Barrett en-route to Hawaii where my family was moving. My mom said each of us kids could pick one thing to take on board the ship. Well, that was what I chose. I read that comic about fifty times during the three day voyage, mostly to spite my brother who purchased, built, and played with a Revelle model car kit.

I shall treasure this copy forever.

But I challenge EVERY ONE OF YOU, and that means every one ... to jot down the name and possibly the issue number or month of your own first comic, if you can remember, that is. This should be good.
