I'm back... here are a couple of drawings I did while on was on my trip. No story behind them... just trying to do drawings that are a little more detailed than my usual fair. I had a blast seeing everyone and I am already looking forward to next year's Con!

Oh yeah, and may I add that I hate my scanner!

That one on top looks the way I feel after my Soup Plantation supper. I like the packed space for the big lizard. What kinda scanner did you get. ?Sometimes those things are waiting for you to discover the settings you like. On my Canon, there is a less sharp mode, (gotta turn on the other computer to check this setting name out) . That setting for me is called DESCREEN. Anyway, this turns out to be the setting I wanted for pencil scans. I guess a guy might want all the sharpness for scanning stuff with type or maybe inks.
I've added another sketch to my post below to show you the difference on the settings that i'm talking about. I like it mushey. It holds the "feel" of pencil better. Then I goof with level settings in photoshop. The scan below has no level manipulation.

I like the "descreen" image as well. My complaint about my scanner is that it draws a line down the middle of my image. I don't know why it does that, but it's really starting to piss me off.

I'm not sure but I may have had Shaun of the Dead when I drew the zombie-thing. I just saw that movie recently and I thought it was great.

well, if you're stuck with a scanner that always puts a vertical line through the work check and see if you can marquee half the art right up against that line, select V, and then horizontal arrow key once and see if that takes care of the whole line. Hopefully the line isn't over a pixel wide.

Fantastic drawings Rick, especially the dinosaur. I always like it when you go into your extra detailed rendering mode.

That top guy is scaaaary ... It reminds me (in a serious way) of a page from an old "Slow Death" comic book that I got back in college ... I'll post the page its on for everyone's "edification."

There's a thought... hmmm... I think I need to fix that leg first. Something is still not quite right about it.
