This is the catalog of the Kirby exhibit that was at Cal State Northridge. I wrote too much about it on the Facebook TAG blog. It is a great book with some interesting essays. They call the Fourth World on period Kirby's Apocalypse period as he moved away from hero centric stories to whole worlds facing their moral comeuppance.

No, the Fourth World on represents a period. There is an essay on Silver Star, which most essayists dismiss as waning Kirby, that is very interesting and makes me want to get a copy of that series. The Apocalypse Period is when Kirby is almost totally in charge of his books and you would describe a series as, "You see, there's this world where... and they're trying to prevent their destruction..." rather than, "You see, there's this guy who can... and he fights ..."
