Index Card Drawings

I've been working on a series of little index card drawings that I can sell at ECCC.  I'm up to 16 now.  I suppose I should scan them before the event.  The idea is to have a little thing that people can buy at a low price point... so I'm probably going to sell them for $5 each.  I've been using Copic markers on these.  Man, I love those things!  Marty, is that what you use for your color drawings?

Get good shots of them. You're selling pretty nice originals for print prices. I sell work on index cards that's good quality Goodson doodles. No color, no request basis. I sell those for 2 bucks.

Maybe sell yours for 5 bucks, if someone buys a book.

Great drawings and your great color. Someone with an angle might buy all of them

Yeah, they're great. Definitely scan every single one you do for future use.

If you don't mind my asking Ellis, do you sell a lot of those $2 index drawings?

Oh yeah. They go over big.

What kind of subject matter do you usually draw on your cards Ellis? Do you notice that certain types of subject matter sell better than others? For instance, standard, established super-heroes like Batman and Iron Man as opposed to generalized fantasy sketches?

Hrm. Perhaps I'll do a set of B&W drawings.

I typically sketch Ben Caldwell type of cute girls in costume doing things. I like doing lithe cat girls. Big Hulks. Batman as a dope- I always do Batman as a dope. Occasional monsters. SciFi scenarios. People jumping into action. I'll take the occasional request for a 2 dollar sketch as long as they understand it is going to be 5 minutes worth of work and nothing special.

It's things on index card that look a lot like what I display on the TAG blog. Because it is the same.
