Strange Love

Years ago I watched "The Strange Loves of Martha Ivers" and came away with the (not-very-original) idea Van Heflin should have been playing the marmish D.A., and Kirk Douglas should have been the free-wheelin' tough-guy gambler. But I watched it again last week and have to say I was wrong. It's maybe Heflin's best role as a leading man. You'll be amazed to see Douglas looking sooo young.

This doesn't really capture the luggish, lumpen Van Heflin that is forever imprinted on my heart...but it'll have to do.

    I've put it at the top of my netflix queue. May end up being my last mailer before my netflix plan converts to streaming only. I'll miss the mailers. Not every thing is streaming. It will be eventually.

    Love the drawing. Concept of him being a foursquare character very intensely done. I also checked out your very younf Kirk on Brushpen

    On the top caricature, if you put James Cagney's mouth on Patrick McGoohan's face, you'd have this drawing. I can't help but imagine this guy going, "You killed my brothah, so not I'm gonna kill you!"
