I'm at Artist's Alley the full tilt. Anyone can drop by. I can sky out at anytime for a meet 'n greet, meal, or brew. I'm in between favorite artists Johnny B. Gerardy and Dave Garcia. Scott B. is around, as is Roger Robinson. I'm sure to be missing others. It's how I roll.
I'm at the whims of my most splended host, Tom Moon. Let's plan on having some sort of gathering on Friday night... Sound good? Let's firm up plans here in the blog.
I moved you to the top by back dating my entry. I think I'll date your entry for the first day of the con and it will stay on top that way. I'm so damned smart. how can I be unemployed.
Friday evenings I teach/dance/DJ at the Casa del Prado (room 207), 7-10 pm. You guys are always welcome to stop by and schmooze ... maybe even move to the music for a while. It's free, and fun.
Beata. I like the unconvential idea. Plenty of room to meet and still have easy access to get back to the convention area. Balboa Park correct? Quick trip on the 163 or that little access road (Balboa?) that climbs the hill up to the Rose Garden area.
It varies, but most often we end up at City Deli in Hillcrest, corner of 6th and University. Their kitchen stays open until 2 am on Fridays; their (wide selection of) food is good - especially their bakery items; they have booths that can accommodate a dozen or more people; and they have these nifty little juke boxes at each booth so you can control the room's music right from your table (bring quarters). Classical Gas, California Dreamin', Rosemary Clooney, Dean Martin, Van Morrison, the Stones ... they have it all. What's nice is that even with a single bill, they let each person pay their own share at the register.
Starting at 10 sounds kinda late to me, but I wouldn't be adverse to starting out earlier and going past 10 to insure that Beata joins in the fun. I will still be at the whims of my gracious host, so it's entirely up to Tom M. (and I seem to recall that he's no night owl himself)
I will be there. Either Thursday or Friday late at the City Deli sounds great. Bryce has a panel he wants to attend on Thursday at 5, I think, but we're good for either night for a TAG dinner and stories.
Ellis, we only have the room on Friday nights, sorry. But in the summertime the outdoor spaces are great, too ... especially the Organ Pavilion. If we converge there on Thursday, we can even have free live background music for an hour (6:15-7:15 pm) from Uncle Bob & The Earthmovers – a Chicago Blues band. Then catch dinner later.
Brent sent me a message on Facebook, saying he tried to post here, but it didn't go through. He'll be at the Con and would love to meet up with the gang.
After the particulars are decided, I'll create a private Facebook "event" for this, in case some TAGsters don't check here or are having blog-access problems.
Brent, you should have an invite to join the blog in your inbox for this email address: brent@brentandersonart.com Beata, I think we should go for Thursday night, say 7:00 at City Deli. As we get closer to the date we can call them and reserve a table.... unless Thursday is bad for some folks.
I guess I'm back on the blog. Thanks! Thursday at 7 sounds good. Bryce's panel goes til 6, so getting to Hillcrest by 7 depends on the logistics of getting out of the con area, but we'll see you. (btw, a Facebook page sounds like a good idea, particularly after we're at the con. I'll have my portable MacBook art studio with me!)
Update on dinner on Thursday: later rather than earlier would be better for us (say 9 instead of 7), as there may be after-hours programming we may want to stay at the con for. Friday may have similar restraints, but the con is only this week announcing its programming schedule and hasn't yet announced for Friday. Ah, the con...
Ellis, although City Deli has chicken pot pie, you're probably thinking of the Chicken Pie Shop on El Cajon Bl. The latter is cheaper, but has (imho) inferior food, a cafeteria-like atmosphere ... and I don't think they take credit cards.
City Deli info is here: http://citydeli.com/ Prices aren't listed, but for $10 you can get a great meal; with our Friday night group, sharing has become practically de rigueur. Our favorites: cheese blintzes, noodle kugels, chili cheese fries, any of their sandwiches and breakfasts, and of course, chocolate/malt shakes.
Sounds good to me. We may not arrive until a bit later as there is after hours programming until 7:15 or 7:30, after-panel schmoozing and such. But we will be there mid-evening (unless I can't get a hotel room, then it's all moot!), but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and positive thoughts.
I will be there Thursday night, will try for 7:30. Will be bringing my girlfriend Zana along. Be nice to her or so help me I'll rip out Ranjo's throat!
Got a room! And it's near the City Deli. Also, I now have a cell phone. email me at kneedeep@sonic.net and I'll give it to you, or call me at my studio 707 837-0800. (And the MEGAJAM sounds fun!)
Anybody want to hit up the midnight show of Captain America??? Mission Valley style?? I'm sure it will be crazy so we might have to buy some advanced tix. Everyone should be responsible for their own tix. Interested??
Hmmm not sure I'm able to stay awake so late (for the Cap movie), but as always, I will leave it to my gracious host... I will go where he goes and do what he does. Mr. Moon? What say you?
The TAG page is still there on FB ... https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=22571727687&ref=ts ... but is about to be archived. Most everything will still be accessible, with a slightly different look, but all members will have to be re-added (since we neglected to upgrade earlier, I guess). I marked down all the names. Fü¢Êžing FB ...
A little early heads up. I won't be there. But take cool group shots and share the links. Not just on facebook please. Post here. Or photobucket or some-such
Blogspot can get glitchey. I'll experiment I experimented with my post below. Works fine. I wonder if you have non compatible tiff or something you're trying to load.
Con is done. Had a terrific Sunday selling pages, drawing sketches, conversations about one geeky thing after another, dinner at Blue Point. Life is good. One of the best things was dinner wit' TAG (or maybe we need to change the name to RagTAG, cuz we really are a ragtag bunch!) But I appreciate everyone's desire to stay in touch wit' one anudder. Be well all, and I look forward very much to next year. Peace out. d8{D
Excellent Brent. It's great that you're staying in touch. I noticed one huge graphic poster of God Loves Man Kills captured in a web video of the con. Is there some big recent news on that?

Tell us where you'll be Rick and we'll gravitate.

What's the near by place you go to eat at with your group?

OH! And they have PAPER place settings!

I'm up for anything. Staying up late is fine. I'm taking a long ComicCon weekend.
City Deli is a great idea--I'd love to share pastrami and stories with y'all. But I'm not up on the Con dates--what Friday are we talking??
Marty- Friday July 22nd would be the Con date Friday.
I'll be there but Friday I'm going to a Disney thang. If it's later then I can do. Plan it and I can make some part of it!!
we can go for a different night, if that makes more sense... How's Thursday suit folks?
Any night is a good night ...
Then let's think about Thursday night as a good time. Is there a preferred place to hook up?
I guess City Deli is still a fun place to go...
Beata, do you have any sort of "in" with the casa del Prado that opens your room up for that Thursday evening? Or do we just want to meet and eat?
I will be there. Either Thursday or Friday late at the City Deli sounds great. Bryce has a panel he wants to attend on Thursday at 5, I think, but we're good for either night for a TAG dinner and stories.

Thursday (any time) works best for me, too, btw.
After the particulars are decided, I'll create a private Facebook "event" for this, in case some TAGsters don't check here or are having blog-access problems.
I found his comments and put them up. I'll see about getting him posting privileges.

Thursday the 21st? Sounds good! City Deli, here we come.
What do you think--7'ish @ City Deli?
Okay!
I guess I'm back on the blog. Thanks! Thursday at 7 sounds good. Bryce's panel goes til 6, so getting to Hillcrest by 7 depends on the logistics of getting out of the con area, but we'll see you. I'm in. I've been to the City Deli and it is GREAT. FUN Fun fun ...
Is that the chicken pot pie place?

Damn, now I'm hungry!
yum yum. Sounds good.
Knowing how TAG gatherings have worked in the past, we could probably grab a table at 7-7:30 and keep it going until 10:30-11.
So, unless there are objections, let's say we start at 7:30 on Thursday night and City Deli. :)

By the way, check out her photography at her temp web portfolio at www.inscrutablez.com/temp.
Also, I'm at DD-06 in Artists Alley!
So if I'm not nice to Zana you'll rip out RANJO's throat? Man, decisions, decisions...
I think I'm BB-04 in Artists Alley (provided I find a hotel room!)
Awesome sauce guys! I can't wait for the throat ripping! If I think of it I'll get a big sheet of paper for a MEGAJAM drawing.
I'm at 425-686-5098 if anyone wants to get a hold of me for some reason.

You're a man in motion Brent. Way to go.

Hmm, food for thot...
CA at Midnight? I'm IN!
Where is the showing?
Fifty comments?!
Make that fifty-one.
So...Thursday night, 7:30-11:00, City Deli...then midnight Captain America show?? Get our own tix beforehand?
Izzat right?
Yeah, Jeff, which theater?
Mission Valley AMC is the best bet. Large Theater, close to 163 out of Hillcrest.
Looks like the NON-3D is at 12:01am and the 3D is at 12:00 midnight
I'm good with the non 3-D one!
Non-3D, please.
Me 2....Tired of that Hollywood gimmick to get $5 more out of you and then get a headache in the process watching.
Hey Whatever happened to OUR TAG page on Facebook???
If I wanted Captain America to punch me in the face I would become the Red Skull.
Yeah, didn't we have a TAG page on FB?

I think I'll pass on the midnight showing. Gotta get some sleep for going to the con on Friday after all.
Heres the link for tickets

When Captain America throws his mighty shield, all those who chose to oppose his shield must yield.

Oh Ellis, that was the best video ever! We need to get the words to the whole song and sing it at City Deli!
Oh my !@#$%&*@#!@#! ears! They WON'T STOP BLEEDING!!!!!!!
What happened to comments #69 and #70!? 70 was such a nice, round number.
Ellis removed a couple of comments. Of course with this one we are back to 70!
reposting the citydeli url
city deli
A little early heads up.
I won't be there.
But take cool group shots and share the links.
Not just on facebook please.
Post here.
Or photobucket or some-such
WHAT!? Not there? Okay, event cancelled. Argh!
First Facebook, now this ...
:-(
Tom's right. What's the point when the heart and soul of TAG isn't going to be there?
Thanks Beata. Jeff, Rick, You, Scott, that makes TAG as much as me. You guys meet. Keep it going. For me and my "maybe" next year.
I revised the date on this post again. Should last till after the con.
I'm trying to post pictures and the blog is not publishing anything new.
Blogspot can get glitchey. I'll experiment
I experimented with my post below. Works fine. I wonder if you have non compatible tiff or something you're trying to load.
Two of my posts had pictures, but I experimented with trying to post just a one sentence test post and it rejected that one also.
