GHOST PROVOKERS second episode premiere!
Hello Kittens,
For those of my bretheren who do not know, the next installment of my series Ghost Provokers (this time shot on board the Queen Mary) will premiere today on Halloween! Go to http://www.ghostprovokers.com/ to see the show in three parts (or find it on YouTube). It's almost a half hour long again, and maybe that's about 25 minutes too long. YOU decide. Please check it out and let me know what you think.
Hate you guys.

Is It Still Tuesday...?
... or did I miss the deadline by thirty-some hours? I like to use a Pentel Rolling Writer for my doodling, sketches and thumbnails. You probably can't even tell what I have drawn here, but maybe that's the fun of it. I just like to move my hand around inside a little box and watch the black-and-white lines and patterns form. That's the Ken Theater up on Adams Avenue in my neighborhood. The other two thumbs are pipes and windows on nearby alleyway walls.

It may be time to move back to Oklahoma
Had my top front 4 teeth removed as prep for a partial plate. Click the headline to see me at the dentist immediately after extraction.
I used Burt Lancaster's teeth to visualize what my partial plate will look like.
I changed it to just the look I will soon achieve

Rick Schmitz's Pens / My Colors

Very unsuccessful attempt at Anderson Cooper. The guy he was interviewing is a fairly successful likeness.

Mysteries From Beyond the Brushpen
OK, I won't bother you with the details, but this is a great clip from a mega-obscure and damn funny movie--one of those wonderful 70's documentaries attempting to explain how extraterrestrials came to earth in the prehistoric days and taught the Mayans to surf.
I wouldn't waste precious TAG blog acreage here if I didn't think you'd get a kick out of it. If you want to know more, check out Brush Pen Breakfast.
All my love, cheeky vampires.

Jack Kirby's Color Palette?
Got it from the Jack Kirby Museum site.
Click headline to go to the site.
Does anyone know the exact address of Kirby's place? Question to those of us that went with Shel that time. I ended up a few years later getting to know Thousand Oaks fairly well. I wondered if my stomping grounds in TO typically intersected where Kirby lived.

Viva Zapato!
Nate
I may mod this up a bit. Colorize it, etc. N8 Sl8. Is it the same story you have in mind Tom C?
My dabbling retouch was just done with a mouse. Didn't really dig into it.

History of The Black Cauldron
Click the title for an interesting article about the making of the Disney film The Black Cauldron.
It's Tuesday!
I must admit I haven't been very conscientious about posting here (or even on my own blog) since being invited to join the group, and for that I apologize. So in an effort to be a better blogger, and in acknowledgment of this blog's moniker, I'm going to try and post a new sketch every Tuesday. If I manage to post more, then all the better, but at least this way I'll get something up here at a minimum of once a week.

Playing around with REDS
This started out s a color pencil drawing but I got dissatisfied with the way it was coming out in the scan. I popped it in PS to do some color correction and got carried away. Face sucks but I liked the body results and probably will revise this design in the near future (click on title to view)
I went ahead and added a new face and did some adjustments
some more designs

Monstrumologist
I'm reading a book called Monstrumologist. Really fun read. Mike Mignola mentioned liking it on Facebook and I checked it out. This is what I imagine the main creature looks like.
The top revision is more like it.

Mean Dude
A memory of Don Stroud I think. With a dabble at photoshop paint.
He's thinking how much he hates the descriptive phrase "fancy tits."
Jim come back. Everyone else loves you. I'll ignore you.

I like watching streaming Painting Demos
It literally is like watching paint dry. But better. This is a very good artist named Ignat Ignatov. I've taken a couple of classes with him at the California Art Institute in Thousand Oaks. Cool guy. Click the headline to see his blog.
PS: I've hounded Krayonzilla off the blog. I apologize.

"Find The TAG Luminary..."
Jimmy, you clever dawg.
I spotted this right away.
See how many TAG luminaries YOU can find in Jim's drawing.
My favorite (by a good distance)...
...ELLIS.
Blackwing by way of Dr. Suess:
I mean, COME ON--Blackwing mojo or not, that is brilliant!

doodles with the palomino Blackwing
got in my Palamino Blackwing pencils from the California Cedar Products Co. Been playing around and comparing it with the Original Eberhard Faber Blackwing 602. Is it is as GOOD? IMHO it's not, close but no cigar. Is it a decent replacement? possibly. It's darker, it's seems softer and the lead wears faster. The wood seems bigger and heavier and the eraser ferrule is larger and keeps the pencil off balance way more than it's predecessor, plus the eraser is useless like so many pencil erasers of today. As I see it the original 602 is a part of lost history of pencils. A thing of legend, yes but will never really come again like so many other LOST pencils of yesteryear.
This was done on a cream color higher quality paper.

Unfinished Doctor Strange
Checked out Essential Doctor Strange from the library and was inspired to draw him on a recent bus ride. No Ditko in this collection, but there was some Brunner and Colan. It included a Dracula crossover. Generally not great stuff, but not necessarily awful either. I find Steve Englehart's writing more and more difficult to tolerate as I get older. I think he has some cool ideas but at times he presents them in an awkward fashion.
Two for Tuesday
Two wee sculptures (or "sculpts" as the Hollywood folk like to call them) from the Musee Maillol in France. Hey, I didn't want a Tuesday to go by without a contribution. Would love to see Thompson draw some little sculpts/figurines/tchotchkes in a desktop composition. I'm sure it would be more entertaining than this.
BTW, I loved the Micronauts video link that sometimes shows up in our TAG sidebar. Now that was an artistically satisfying toy-line-cum-comic.
...I mean that in the latinate sense.
