Doing a kind of make a wish type of project at the request of a friend.
Needs several more cavemen and will eventually be color.
I have a cold. Every caveman represents at least 3 kleenex full of snot.

Not to mention the occasional nose bleed.

I love these guys. Each one is a distinct personality. You are awesome, Ellis!
ReplyDeleteThat's great Ellis! So they are giving your drawing to a child in need?
ReplyDeleteThank Ronnie. Tom, it's more involved. Young man wanted to design a role playing type of gang. There's a bunch of characters. I'm just doing one.
ReplyDeleterpg type of GAME
ReplyDeleteI see some Kirby CRACKLE there
ReplyDeleteIt's a brush called- Kirby Crackle
ReplyDeleteI used the same dark color key for the color on the cavemen. I like having 'rules' for my values. I think it helps the painting. I need to do the light key some time.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the greyscale blog you referenced Ellis, but both this painting and the last seem a little dark and low contrast overall for my taste. I'd like to feel that the light sources (the lightning bolt and the glowing orb) are affecting the scene more.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree Tom. Rules are made to be broken. Actually the lightning bolt and especially the blast lines (pure white) break the rules.
ReplyDeleteAll of this stuff I'm freelancing, I 'll probably revisit and try to improve as a sample blog. So I may play with the levels on this piece a bit.
