Print ready!
I've ordered my proof from Lulu (yeah, I ended up back at Lulu). We'll see how it turns out. It has the quality of being done. The comic was pretty fun to make, but the print set-up process was a bear. Cross your fingers for me!
Yes, it's B&W inside. Yes, it's comic book size (6x9) Yes, I will have copies for both Ronnie and Tom.
One thing I botched was the name of the book on Lulu. I'm not really planning on selling a lot of copies there, but the project name is also the display name, which is rather irritating. I can make another instance of the book, but I have to re-enter all of the info and it would probably output a new bar code, so I'm just going to leave it for now. If you want to look it up on Lulu you can find it under Dorothy issue 01.
Yes. Idle Hands went south by a factor of 10 or so on handling the half tone. They lost a lot of the charm the old ones had not holding the tone. I figure the printer varies what part of the country you're based in. As a crap shoot, I bet PacNW has a good Lulu printer. Oklahoma City doesn't. And you have to print company system locally for the shipping to work.
Sign me up for one! Can't wait to dig in! Haven't read a real comic since RASL.
ReplyDeleteSuper exciting! Reserve me a copy and see you at the Con!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic. I'll want one. Lulu is OK. Are you doing BW interiors?
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool, Rick! Will it be the same size as the TAG Annual (oops!) Sampler?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad one of us will have a book to sell!

But be warned, I'm waiting for the proof now, so I may have a change or 2 before it's really ready for publishing.
ReplyDeleteAs spitting mad as I was at Lulu, this makes me want to do another 6 by 9 pub with them.
ReplyDeleteI've forgotten why you were mad at Lulu Ellis. What did they do? Give you a poor print job?
