I would say from a drawing of Wonder Wart Hog by Gilbert Shelton. The Hog of Steel was known to draw flies that looked like those.
I just noticed that he has both eyes in view. I was interpreting the left eye patch as some sort of flap. Also noticed his ear looks like a nose, viewed with a symbol receptiveness. Very disconcerting. Like all your work, it just gives and gives.
He's got that fly buzzing cartoon appeal. Good strong teeth. Imposing demeanor
