Tuesday Night Drawing
Here's my Tuesday night drawing. I'm up in the bay area for the rest of the week, but my brother has a scanner hooked up to his computer so I'm able to post.
I've wanted to do a gorilla for a while now as a "hello" to Ellis, so here it is!
Happy Tuesday, folks! There's no story behind this thing, it's just a weird thing that came to mind. I would like to take this opportunity to plug my version of Skribl's cool comic strip- http://thraxisjr.blogspot.com/ - which can be found at: http://rickart.blogspot.com/

The first Jam!
Okay, here's the Rules: Who ever wants to contribute to the drawing next needs to say so on the comment page of this post. Then that person saves this picture on their hard drive, makes their contribution and then makes a new post and uploads the new image. Then the next person comments on that post and so on. Do not post a "dibs" comment unless you have the time to do it immediately, so as to not make someone else wait around till you get to it. If you don't have the means to draw directly into the image from your computer, print out the drawing, draw on it and scan it back in. Sound good?
Have at it!
Ellis Here. I broke the rules. I just dropped my art in with no check out. I was just ready to go. I can see problems with doing that but hopefully i get away with it this time.

a blog of note...
Here's a blog with a bunch of interviews with different character designers:
http://characterdesign.blogspot.com/
I haven't had much of a chance to read the interviews, but a skimming of the art makes it a must-go-to site.
It also has a bunch of very nice looking sketchbooks for sale:

R0B0T0P!A
So I also have a personal blog and it' s only a week old. I added a link to the right there. See? In the links section?? See? See?
It was spun off of another blog started by a couple of guys at work . See StoryBoredom on the right? See? See?
I started doing a daily strip (which is explained in both blogs) to get me drawing again. And it's working. I really look forward to doing it and it only takes a 20-30 minutes to draw and upload. Lots of fun and not alot of mental anguish time. You know, that little voice in your head that tells you that it's not good and to start over??
Click on over and tell me what you think??

Disney to buy Pixar?
Hey, I heard on the radio this morning that Disney is looking to buy Pixar. I'm having trouble seeing the good in this... anyone else out there know anything about it?

Unearthing Tag
Dok Whitson here - glad to join the throng. Delighted that Jeff got this going! Hope I'm doing it right (thanks Tom Moon if so). This drawing was done this morning, so it's got that quality if no other!

My other BLOG
I'm going to try and load this Blog up with a lot of art, mainly digital painting. It needs editing because I was dabbling and communicating with my Mom about how easy Blogging was while it was giving me headaches.

Yesterday I started using my new MiniMac as the way I get online. No more virus worries. YEAH!
....except I can't make a web address a link the way i could with my PC. I right click and get the option to make a link, I publish it, and it's not a link. Oh well. you'll have to cut and paste.

Oops.
Sorry. For those of you who don't know me, Tom Moon is my real name and I am the author of the last three posts.
Let's Try Another
Hello to MJM, Scotty Buncake, Krayonzilla, and Podboy. I don't think we have met. I am a video games artist and comic book collector.
MJM, I have heard your name mentioned often. I'm a children's book collector. I have many works by the likes of Michael Hague, Leo and Dianne Dillon, Anthony Browne, Roy Gerard, P.J. Lynch and many others. I went to both your web sites. You do beautiful work.
Ellis, good to hear from you. How have you been? I love your web site too.

Picture Test
O.K. Now I will try posting a picture. I was not a member of the original TAG group, though I wish I had been. Since I know over half of you from BlueSky Games, I thought I would join in and meet the rest of you. I'm currently working on Everquest 2 at Sony Online and looking for a reason to keep sketching regularly.

You'll now find all 29 pages, two tag jams per page. 58 jams, reduced to a much smaller size. Enjoy
I had forgotten how funny they are.

Thanks to some friends inviting me to join another Blog, I'm finally getting the hang of how to post and edit Blog stuff. The only point of this exercise will be to show off my art. Posting pictures. This painting reflects some skills newly acquired in photoshop. Primarily duplicating layers, adjusting the duplicates color, darkness, color balance etc, then making it an alpha channel that I mix back into the original. Because color painting gives me so much anxiety ( I'm color blind) I first finish the painting as a gray value study and then colorize it with a complimentary color scheme. Here it's mostly orange and blue.
Job Openings
We have a couple of art postions open at Turbine, if anyone out there knows someone who is looking for work.

OK, Thanks Jeff. I get it now
I was trying to get pictures into my post by clicking on the "BlogIt" button at the top of the page. Jeff directed me to sign in on the home page of Blogspot, navigate to "new post" for TAG's blog and then I can find the buttons I need. I dig it . It's great to see that foto of all of us when some of us were kids. Thanks for posting that.
The above is Sgt Scorpion. Done for some soldier in Iraq who advertised for a cartoonist on AWN.
For anyone interested , I have a HUGE PDF of doodles. 109 pages! It takes about 2 minutes to load with a DSL connection. It is titled IDLE HANDS because it represents all the idling I did in my last job. Every one of those doodles was done during the work day. I think I owe somebody a paycheck or two.

Hey guys. The link above takes you to my current website. I would have been here sooner but Blog is too sophisticated for me to understand.
I want everybody to do this Tuesday sketch deal.

Let's Get Shaking!
Hey you guys, we need some activity here! (I'm just recovering from that lovely California flu and finally have some energy back.) Who all have you invited? Do we need to send them personal nags? What about a Tuesday "assignment"? (Here's a sketch from my latest book "Getting to Know Ruben Plotnick")
I just noticed that for some reason my BookArtists info is showing up in my profile.

Comic-Con: July 6th, 1991
Who are these folks?? This is a contest. The first person to identify all of the people in the picture wins a prize from me! Special bonus points for identifying the guy standing next to "the fellow with the fedora." And special special bonus point for who took the picture. Have fun!!
This is the only photo I have of the group. It's been hanging in my studio ever since 1991.

Pixar at MoMA
Over the holiday break, I went to see the Pixar art show at MoMA in NYC... very cool! There were lots of sculptures and concept drawings, story boards and "colorscripts".
