You just got there. Better than nadda at this point. If I can't get another gig by first of the year...I'll need to make some life changing decisions that may take me away from SD. Which I don't want to do. This town is dying and all the asses out then want a jack of all trades on the cheap unless you do your own thing and make $$$ at it. That's the trick and I'm running out of stuff to sell on EBay.
You should devote this much effort to a recognizable Marvel Franchise character or somesuch. Something with a fan base. I've learned that the artists that sell prints in outlets like etsy don't get sued by big companies like Marvel. This info from the Oklahoma Comic User group from people that sell prints. Your ebay experience should be gold for setting up Ebay for prints.
I won't devote time or energy pushing their characters. Do your own thing and march to that drum beat. Build your OWN fan base.....then the profit is ALL yours rights free with no legal entanglement. That's the problem with everything in the business. Not my bag.
Been looking at Etsy too. That's the next phase as well as an EBay store. Hell...I'll Keyword Marvel or DC just to get traffic. I'll march to my own unique vision.
Maurice, I think it looks really good. Personally I miss some of the more "painterly" touches, but there is a real strength to the image. Getting this out in front of eyeballs will be a great way to judge your future direction.
And who couldn't love the Kirby-Krackle-esque field of scarlet bubbling up beneath her? Very cool!
Yeah! Looking really great Jim!
ReplyDeleteAll that ornate detail is scalable. Very nice. Should be a piece that causes a demand. Commissions.
ReplyDeleteWhats good about PS CC is the new Image Size tool. Scaling up is no problem anymore.
ReplyDeleteSweetness! Love the detail. Great job, Jim!

ReplyDeleteHowever you did it, Maleficent has never looked better.

ReplyDeleteI've developed a sensitivity to people using abbreviations with an expectation of being understood.
ReplyDeleteHome Depot has a million little abbreviations for how they do business.
I want out of there. Which is good. Wanting to change is a big positive for me.
